What do you enjoy most about solving complex technical problems for clients, particularly for WordPress and/or WooCommerce?

I enjoy turning complex requirements into simple, reliable solutions. Every project presents different challenges, and it’s rewarding to build something that saves clients time, improves their workflow, or helps grow their business. WordPress and WooCommerce are incredibly flexible platforms, and I enjoy using that flexibility to create custom solutions that fit each client’s needs.

What changes in technology and development are you most excited about right now?

I am excited about how AI is becoming part of everyday development. It helps developers work more efficiently, speeds up repetitive tasks, and allows us to focus more on solving business problems. I’m also interested in modern web technologies that improve website performance, security, and user experience while making applications easier to maintain.

What concerns do you have with the current tech environment?

Technology is evolving very quickly, which is exciting but also challenging. New tools and frameworks appear constantly, making it important to stay up to date while still choosing stable, well supported technologies for clients. Security is another major concern, especially as websites become more connected through APIs and third-party services.

How do you approach WooCommerce integrations when planning and building a new solution?

I always start by understanding the client’s business process before writing any code. Once I understand their goals, I design the integration to be scalable, secure, and easy to maintain. What do you enjoy most about digital design and creating user experiences?

For me, it’s the problem-solving aspect. Good design isn’t really about making something look beautiful—it’s about understanding people, identifying friction, and creating experiences that feel effortless. I enjoy taking something complex and turning it into something simple, intuitive, and enjoyable to use. When users can achieve their goals quickly and confidently, that’s when great design has done its job.

What changes in tech and design are you most excited about right now?

Without a doubt, AI is changing the landscape dramatically. Not because it’s replacing designers, but because it’s removing a lot of the repetitive work and allowing us to spend more time on strategy, creativity, and solving meaningful problems. I’m also excited by the growing focus on accessibility and inclusive design. The industry is finally recognising that designing for everyone isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s good business : )

What are your ideal project types?

People are often surprised when I say I don’t really have a favourite project type. Whether it’s a startup, government platform, healthcare system, property development, eCommerce store, or enterprise application, the underlying process is largely the same. My job is to understand the users, understand the business objectives, identify the friction points, and design a better outcome.

What I enjoy most is seeing that process come to fruition, regardless of the project type or industry.

How do you approach accessibility and inclusive design in your work?

Accessibility works best when it’s considered from day one rather than retrofitted later, although many projects don’t always allow for that. My approach is to create experiences that are intuitive, inclusive, and accessible while still maintaining strong visual design and brand integrity. There’s often a balance between creating something beautiful and ensuring it meets accessibility requirements, and that’s where thoughtful design becomes important. At the end of the day, accessibility isn’t just about passing audits—it’s about creating better experiences for everyone.

When you’re away from the desk, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

You’ll usually find me outdoors. I enjoy spending time at the beach, hiking, training, exploring with my son, and getting out into nature whenever I can.

I’m also interested in the rapid evolution of AI tools, not because they’re a replacement for people, but because they can help us work more efficiently and solve problems faster when used appropriately. The challenge is understanding where AI adds value and where human expertise is still essential.

What concerns do you have with the current tech environment?
Technology is moving incredibly quickly, and sometimes organisations rush to adopt new tools without fully considering security, privacy, accessibility or long-term maintainability. I’m also concerned by the amount of misinformation and marketing hype surrounding some technologies, particularly AI. It’s important to focus on real-world outcomes rather than chasing trends for the sake of it.

How do you approach accessibility and WCAG compliance when planning and building a new solution?
Accessibility works best when it’s considered from the beginning of a project rather than being bolted on at the end. My approach is to work closely with accessibility auditors, designers and stakeholders to ensure accessibility requirements are understood early and incorporated throughout the design and development process. The goal is not simply to meet compliance requirements, but to create digital experiences that are genuinely usable by as many people as possible.

When you’re away from the desk, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me out running, road cycling or mountain biking. I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself physically and it’s also a great way to clear my head and recharge. Some of my best problem-solving happens when I’m out on a trail or riding a quiet country road.
